President Donald Trump announced that the recent passage of the House budget proposal, which Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03) opposed, will lead to the "largest tax and regulation cuts ever even contemplated." He made this statement in an April 10 post on Truth Social.

"Congratulations to the House on the passage of a Bill that sets the stage for one of the Greatest and Most Important Signings in the History of our Country," said Trump. "Among many other things, it will be the Largest Tax and Regulation Cuts ever even contemplated. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

On April 10, 2025, the U.S. House of Representatives approved President Trump's budget blueprint with a narrow 216-214 vote. This decision marks a significant step in advancing his legislative agenda. According to The Post Millennial, the budget resolution paves the way for extending the 2017 tax cuts and proposes an additional $4.5 trillion in tax reductions over the next decade. Key components include making permanent lower individual tax rates and a 20% pass-through deduction for small businesses, aiming to stimulate economic growth and job creation. The plan also allocates increased funding for border security and national defense.

The U.S. House Committee on Ways and Means reports that beyond tax reforms, the budget framework facilitates deregulation in the energy sector by proposing rollbacks of previous regulations such as the crypto Broker Rule. This initiative seeks to eliminate bureaucratic obstacles, promoting American energy dominance and encouraging investment in traditional energy industries.

Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez voted against the bill, stating, "We can’t ignore our growing deficit and we need to work urgently to make our government work more effectively. Today’s resolution is not that – and it doesn’t align with the values held by my neighbors and constituents," in a post on X.

According to Breitbart, the Trump-backed budget aims to simplify processes for companies seeking drilling permits and expand fossil fuel production by reducing bureaucratic red tape. It includes tax incentives for energy companies to encourage new projects from shale oil fields to deepwater offshore rigs. The proposal emphasizes expanding pipelines and other infrastructure to ensure efficient transportation of natural resources within the U.S., thereby improving energy independence and reducing reliance on foreign oil. This focus on energy deregulation aligns with Trump’s broader strategy of achieving "energy dominance," aiming for U.S. leadership in global energy production.

Marie Gluesenkamp Perez has represented Washington's 3rd congressional district since 2023, according to her House website.
