This  weekend, Yakima Valley College commemorates Juneteenth and this  momentous anniversary of Black American liberation. As an institution  dedicated to advancing social justice and equity through education, this  day is an opportunity to expand our understanding of Black history and  continue working together for a more just and equitable world.

If  you’d like to celebrate the event locally, today, June 18, the Yakima  County NAACP will host its 31st annual Juneteenth Celebration at  Yakima’s Martin Luther King Jr. Park, 610 S 9th Street. Monday is a holiday and campuses will be closed.
