On Monday, February 20, the Vancouver Police Department will begin issuing body worn cameras (BWC) to all sworn personnel.
The Vancouver Police Department Camera Program will roll out in phases:
- The first phase will be the rollout of body worn cameras (BWC) to sworn staff members beginning February 20, 2023. The BWC rollout will begin with patrol personnel being issued BWC’s first, followed by non-patrol personnel. The BWC rollout is expected to be completed by March 9, 2023.
- The next phase will be the installation of front-facing and rear passenger vehicle cameras in Vancouver Police patrol vehicles. The installation rollout for these cameras is anticipated to begin in Q4 2023 (shipping of this equipment is delayed until Q4, due to supply chain issues).
