If you had to quickly evacuate your home, would you be ready? Having a portable grab-and-go emergency kit will ensure the basic needs of you and your household are met in the event of an emergency.
Every household should have one kit per person including pets and children. A kit should include:

• A 2-3-day supply of shelf stable, ready to eat foods. Purchase foods you like so it will be easy to rotate items near expiration with newer items in your pantry.

• About 2-3 quarts of drinking water per person. Pack a LifeStraw or other water filter to increase your access.

• Personal care items such as toothbrush, soap, and hair care items.

• A set of extra clothes appropriate for the season, shoes, hat, gloves, and poncho.

• First aid kit with a 7-day supply of medications.

• Tools including a multi-purpose tool, knife, duct tape, flashlight, and cell phone charging cord.

Pets need a grab-and-go kit too! Have 2-3 days of food, water, any of their medications, leashes and cages, if applicable. To learn more about building your own grab-and-go emergency kit, visit https://clark.wa.gov/public-health/build-kit.
