Program Description
Researching ancestry can be challenging. Where do you start? Which of the 60,000 websites will give you the information you want? With the help of the FVRL Virtual Genealogy Club, led by experienced genealogist John Lake, you can join your neighbors in learning how to explore your past. Any level of experience is welcome, from the long-time genealogist to those interested in starting a search.
So much of our time is spent searching databases like Ancestry and we tend to ignore the proof that real physical evidence gives us. We will take a look at gravestones, epitaphs, buildings, place names, family coats of arms, plus more. This is a great way to add more color to your family tree!
To join this online program, you will need a computer, tablet or phone with a camera and microphone. The link to join the event will be emailed to registrants. A phone number will be included to allow you to use a phone as speaker/microphone, if necessary.
Library events and programs are open to the public and provided at no cost. Special accommodations may be requested using our Accommodation Request Form no later than 15 days prior to the event.
