Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro metro surpass Boston-Cambridge-Newton in 2019

The Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro metro area exported $23.8 billion in 2019, more than exports from Boston-Cambridge-Newton in 2019, according to the International Trade Administration.

A study from the Brookings Institute found competition between areas within the United States increases exports, which in turn generates stronger sales and more jobs for American workers.

The Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro metro area consists of seven counties.

The Boston-Cambridge-Newton metro area comprises seven counties exporting $23.5 billion in 2019.

The metro area with the most exports was Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land with $129.7 billion exported.
