Battleground Public School issued the following announcement.
Traditionally, Battle Ground schools serve as hosts to a full schedule of school-wide assemblies, guest speakers, musical performances, and more to celebrate Veterans Day. While these in-person celebrations aren’t possible this year, students and staff got creative and hosted these events virtually. Below are links to just some of the events that happened at district schools. Note that not all school activities from this year are included below, as some were not intended to be made publicly available.
Battle Ground High School
The school’s AFJROTC cadets gathered five local veterans via Zoom to ask them questions about serving in the military. More than 90 students submitted questions, and the senior cadet leadership culled the list down to twelve and set out to interview the veterans. A recording of the BGHS guest speaker panel is available on YouTube.
Prairie High School
The ASB club at PHS helped with the creation of a video interview with a Vietnam veteran.
CAM Academy
CAM senior Evan Schoening interviewed his grandfather to learn about his experiences as a veteran. You can watch Evan’s video here.
Laurin Middle School

Daybreak Middle School
The Daybreak ASB Team celebrated by creating a short video highlighting the history of Veterans Day, the Poem ‘In Flanders Fields,’ and a challenge to all Daybreak Dragons to participate in Veterans Day by:
- Thanking a Veteran they know personally for their service and sacrifice
- Starting a conversation with their family about what Veterans Day means to them
- Sharing a personal story or experience about a Veteran they know on the Daybreak Veterans Day Flipgrid
The ASB Club students and their advisor helped compile this Salute to Veterans video.
