Deputies recently took a report of a citizen who was scammed. They stated that a Clark County “Lieutenant and Captain” called reporting the female missed court after receiving a subpoena. The female proceeded to purchase $8,000 worth of gift cards. After relaying the codes on the back of the cards, she then mailed the physical cards to the Department of Treasury in Washington DC.

This is a friendly reminder that the Sheriffs Office will never call you demanding payment, and no business or government agency should ever ask you to pay for something via gift cards.
