February is American Heart Month – a good reminder for all of us to focus on our cardiovascular health.
High blood pressure is a leading risk factor for heart disease and stroke. Take charge of your blood pressure — a healthier heart can lead to a healthier life!
• Be physically active and eat a healthy diet. Start by taking a daily walk and eating more fruits and vegetables.
• Learn to check your blood pressure at home by using a blood pressure monitor.
• Control your blood pressure to reduce your risk of heart attack, stroke, kidney disease and other conditions.
• Work with your health care provider to create a personal treatment plan with the goal of controlling your blood pressure.
• Make sure to take your medication as prescribed and let your health care team know if you have questions or concerns.
